Roses of The City

what can I do, I'm always feeling blue
things are just O.K., with nothing much to say
a never ending tick-tock from an old wall clock
I'm sitting here alone with everything I've known
I'm waiting for a call, or a message, you see
well I picked up the phone, but it wasn't for me
and it makes me grieve, what I didn't receive
I guess I'll have to wait and leave it up to fate

What do I need, is it only greed
to fill an empty heart, keep it from falling apart
It's making me obsessed, and puts me to the test
to see if I can believe, even though I can't breathe
I'd jump off the wall, even take a fall
to drag out my name and earn a little shame
still it makes me sad, what I never had
I gotta let it go, and stick with what I know

there's beauty all around me even though it don't look pretty
and the sun keeps shining blindly on the roses of the city

what can I find, with a worried mind
just a wasted day,  forever gone away
I cannot share, an unanswered prayer
it's just what it seems, disillusioned dreams
a house made of cards, with off duty guards
just a little sound, will bring it to the ground
I'll get it off my chest, put my fears to rest
take off my disguise, open up my eyes

there's beauty all around me even though it don't look pretty
and the sun keeps shining blindly on the roses of the city
