Meeting at The Building

Mirror, Mirror

I walked into a fortune telling parlor
my spirit and my sight were nearly gone
I was greeted by a woman with a garland
this was just before the dawn
she had me sit down with her at her table
she carefully unwrapped a precious stone
she placed it in my hand and then she whispered
leave you fear alone

mirror, mirror floating on the ocean
mirror mirror hanging in the sky
tell me if there's someone who could love me
tell me if there's someone who would try

I sank into a far and distant feeling
I seemed to be inside a foreign place
as images unfolded I was reeling
and my vision was broken into lace
I stepped into a room with walls of ebony
there I found a girl, she could not hide
she was changing to a woman right there in front of me
now my eyes were opened wide
I listened but I could not hear her talking
instead I heard the sounding of a bell
it was ringing for this fore shadowed beauty
but from where I could not tell

mirror, mirror floating on the ocean
mirror, mirror hanging in the sky
tell me if there's someone who could love me
tell me if there's someone who could try

when I awoke the fortune teller asked me
if there was more that I would care to see
I told her that my question had been answered
as I handed her the fee
I stepped out to the street and I heard thunder
the first few raindrops struck into the ground
I put my hat on and I began to wonder
all about that ringing sound

mirror, mirror floating on the ocean
mirror mirror hanging in the sky
tell me if there's someone who could love me
tell me if there's someone who could try
please don't let this be another lie
I won't be content to cry
nor will I just curl on up and die
tell me if there's reason left to try
