Keep On

A while ago one night, I was searching for a sight
I was headed down a dark and shallow stream
when I made it through the fog, I was restless like a dog
and I felt like I was trapped inside a dream
as the water moved along, I was making out a song
it was ringing through my clouded memory
as the melody did rise, I was lucky to realize
how I was there to sing its harmony
we echoed keep on rolling free, keep on rolling true
keep on rolling 'til your days are through
keep on singing out, keep on singing free
keep on singing through eternity

it was in the month of June, I was searching through a ruin
for an artifact of which I'd only heard
with my water almost out, I began to screem and shot
for I knew right then this mission was absurd
my mind was moving fast, I was reeling through my past
for some healing words to soothe my swolen brain
just then I heard a sound, felt a rumblin' 'neith the ground
and the whistlin' echo of a distant train kept blowin'
keep on rolling free, keep on rolling true
keep on rolling 'til your days are through
keep on singing out, keep on singing free
keep on singing through eternity

and when your days are through and darkness falls around you
like a movie that has shown its' final run
you'll have the knowin' that you lived your days their fullest
and you're free to join your spirit with the sun

it happened late one day, I was thinking of words to say
to a woman that I'd like to get to know
she was beautiful and lean, and she didn't seem too mean
for a guy like me to ask her to a show
as the minutes ticked on by, I was feeling rather shy
I began to second guess my every thought
with my head all full of haze, I thought back on my days
and I remembered that refrain the river taught
we echoed keep on rolling free, keep on rolling true
keep on rolling 'til your days are through
keep on singing out, keep on singing free
keep on singing through eternity

and when your days are through and darkness falls around you
like a movie that has shown its' final run
you'll have the knowin' that you lived your days their fullest
and you're free to join your spirit with the sun
keep on rolling free, keep on rolling true
keep on rolling 'til your days are through
keep on singing out, keep on singing free
keep on singing through eternity
